What is Nigeria’s ZIP Code?
If you’ve ever had a need to fill a form online, I’m sure you have come across a field requesting for ZIP Code.
And as a correct Nigerian that you are, the first thought that comes to your mind is 234. I’m sorry to say this, but it’s wrong.
234 is NOT Nigeria’s ZIP Code; it’s the international dialing code. 234, when prefixed to a phone number, is signalling that the call and the phone number is from Nigeria and that’s where it ends.
What you’re about to read will shock you, but then we learn everyday.
So, what is Nigeria’s ZIP Code?
Nigeria doesn’t use a ZIP Code.
Pay attention, please!
ZIP Code, short for Zone Improvement Plan Code is used only in the U.S. What Nigeria and many other countries use is Post Code. Although we may regard both as the same since they serve the same purpose.
However, the U.S. Postal Service do have codes for other countries when handling delivery. For Nigeria, it ranges from 00176-0000.

When you’re filling a form, however, you should enter 110001 in the space for ZIP Code or simply find the specific postal code for your state and/or local government area on Nigeria Postcodes.
